Resources for Online Writing Instruction
Writing instruction in online classes can differ from face-to-face classes in a few important ways. Whether you are a seasoned veteran or a first-timer, here are some useful resources for online writing instructors.
Global Society of Online Literacy Educators: "The Global Society of Online Literacy Educators (GSOLE) connects those who teach reading, alphabetic writing, and digital literacy in online educational settings. Dedicated to diversity, inclusivity, and access in literacy-based online education, GSOLE disseminates peer-reviewed research and information through its annual meeting, online conference, research support, educational and community-building Webinars, Website, online literacy certification programs, and two open-access online journals--Research in Online Literacy Education (ROLE) and the Online Literacy Open Resource (OLOR)."
The Online Writing Instructions Community:
"[The Online Writing Instruction Community] wish[es] to confirm that teaching writing online is different than just teaching online or teaching writing in a face-to-face setting. We aim to raise awareness of the multitude of research and resources available to online writing instructors; to advertise books, sites, and tools that could help new and existing online writing instructors with the facilitation of their courses.
Our goal is to create an online, academic resource that provides a sense of community for online writing instructors around the globe and that encourages the use of recent online writing instruction (OWI) scholarship, the sharing of assignments, feedback, and course design ideas.
We hope that this site will inspire online writing instructors to shape their pedagogy around the PARS OWI Philosophy, current research on distance education, and the CCCCs Position Statement for OWI"

Online Writing Teacher: This is the blog of Scott Warnock of Drexel University. This blog describes his efforts "to develop and teach online writing courses at Drexel University, an endeavor that began in 2004. My goal is to provide useful information about teaching writing—particularly First-Year Writing—in online or in hybrid settings and to encourage conversations about such teaching. I started this blog mainly to experiment with this technology, but I also hope that my successes and failures will help others to create, teach, and assess online writing courses."
